Watch here to learn more about our Sustainability Journey, as part of JDE Peets

Kenco has always championed positive change

Kenco plays our part within JDE Peet’s Common Grounds programme and our purpose has always been great tasting coffee that inspires a better today.

Pioneering Eco Refills in 2009

The first major coffee company to launch Eco Refills, an innovative way to reduce packaging waste, with 97% less packaging than our standard 200g glass jars per gram of coffee.

2010-2013 Official Partner of Macmillan Coffee Morning

Supporting Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, with hosting kits and competitions. For every Kenco 200g jar purchased with a Macmillan sticker, Kenco contributed 5p to Macmillan for every customer that 'text to donate'.

2012 Upcycle Partnership with Terracycle

Partnering with Terracycle to uplift communities by placing coffee plastic collection points in public locations throughout the UK and upcycling the collected materials into community objects such as park benches, watering cans, and waste bins.

Coffee VS Gangs 2014-2016

In 2014, Kenco introduced the iconic Coffee vs Gangs initiative, a programme to generate opportunities and education for young people in Honduras.

Minimising our footprint

In 2022, Kenco reduced its frothy coffee packaging by 27% to reduce our packaging waste.

The launch of plant-based latte’s 2023

Launching plant-based frothy coffee, offering a sustainable alternative to dairy.  It’s rich, creamy and low in fat and sugar too.

Pioneering home recyclable paper refills in 2024

In a UK&I first, Kenco transitions instant coffee refills from plastic to paper - marking a breakthrough for sustainable packaging in the category.

100% Responsibly Sourced coffee

For the first time, Kenco’s 100% responsibly sourced coffee will be communicated on pack in 2024. This is part of our broader JDE Peet’s journey towards 100% responsibly sourced coffee, tea, and palm oil by 2025.
