Luxurious Macmillan
Coffee Mornings 2011

2011 marked Macmillan’s centenary year. So to help Macmillan raise even more money for people living with cancer in the UK, we had two luxurious coffee mornings up for grabs. These events included stunning venues, decorations, entertainment and delectable refreshments. Our winners were Anne Slater and Bev Samways. Here are their stories...

Anne’s Luxurious Coffee Morning in Norfolk

Not only is Anne a full time carer to her husband, but she’s also an active fundraiser in her community. Her luxurious coffee morning was hosted in a marquee at the Lighthouse Inn in Walcott with almost 250 guests. Anne arranged her own jazz band to provide the entertainment for the day, and also organised bring-and-buy stalls, a raffle, tombola and competitions.

Over £1,709 was raised for Macmillan that day.

Bev’s Luxurious Coffee Morning in Bath

Hosted at the historic Roman Baths, Bev and her guests basked in luxury on their coffee morning. Almost 100 guests showed up and enjoyed the jazzy sounds of French Connection, while the children had their own performer. Bev also organised a raffle with great prizes – including a trip to Center Parcs, pole dancing lessons and a Kenco hamper – to raise more money for Macmillan.
